Autotrader instituted its Best New Cars Award as a way to benefit a broad range of car shoppers. The process is extensive and thorough, making the honor that much greater for the vehicle which is finally selected.The editorial experts at Autotrader literally log thousands of miles in vehicles before settling on a winner of the annual Best New Cars Award. Quite a list of criteria is used in the judging of each car. They include build quality, interior comfort and materials, ride quality, and available features.Not only do the different members of the Autotrader editorial team vote on each vehicle and its features, ultimately the vote must be unanimous for a winner to be selected. That means these professionals all agreed the 2019 Ram 1500 beats the competition in numerous key areas, bestowing on it the honor of the Best New Cars for 2019 Award.

The Truck

With the 2019 Ram 1500 comes quite a few sweeping changes for a truck that already has a stellar reputation. That means the pickup keeps up with advancing technology and the evolving demands of hardworking truck owners.

One of the biggest changes for 2019 is the new eTorque mild hybrid system. It's available for both V-6 and V-8 engines, boosting efficiency, especially in the city. Overall, the truck was able to shed 225 pounds, helping to boost performance in the process. In fact, towing capability has risen to 12,750 pounds*, while payload capacity is equally phenomenal at 2,300 pounds**.

There's also a new Uconnect 4C infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen, boosting productivity while you're on the move. Through SiriusXM 360L you have access to all kinds of exclusive content. A split-screen feature allows for taking on two tasks at once. There's also an optional 360-degree camera system which is ideal for navigating tight areas. Adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, blind spot monitoring, and other driver assistance technologies keep you safer than ever.
