You know a truck is good when it stays in production even when an all-new model has been launched to replace it, which is exactly what happened when Ram trucks kept the Ram 1500 in production as the Classic, even though the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 had gone on sale. Of course, just because the old version of Ram's full-size, light-duty pickup truck is still on sale it doesn't mean the new model isn't a giant leap forward, because it is. With its new, toned-down, more subtle styling, and a revolutionary new propulsion system for a truck in its class, the newest Ram 1500 is quite something.
And if you're still not convinced, why not listen to the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA), who recently named the 2019 Ram 1500 as the Official Winter Truck of New England? It may be a bit of a niche award, but what better way of complimenting a truck than to name it as the best for dealing with a New England winter?
The award
At the end of what had been yet another harsh winter of challenging weather conditions, more than 50 NEMPA members got together for their annual ritual of pooling their thoughts to decide which truck had been best at coping with the specific needs of New England pickup truck drivers throughout the winter months. And as we've already revealed, the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 was their chosen winner.
NEMPA
The New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) was put together back in 1987 to coordinate professional coverage of the auto industry in the media outlets of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The 14.5 million citizens of those states have unique demographics and automotive requirements and preferences. Members of NEMPA make themselves available to appear on network and cable TV, on the Internet, on radio stations, and in traditional regional print media.

The 2019 Ram 1500
The 2019 Ram 1500 might be the perfect truck for New England winters, but with so many ways of configuring and accessorizing it, the new model can be anything you want from a light-duty pickup. It's impressive luxury, efficiency, capability and innovation are just some of the reasons to check one out if you're in the market for a new full-size pickup truck. The 2019 Ram1500 sets a new standard in its segment thanks to notable gains in fuel efficiency through an all-new eTorque mild hybrid system for both V-6 and V-8 engine options. It also doesn't hurt that the overall weight for the Ram 1500 has also been reduced this year by 225 pounds.
Even so, the 2019 model can also boast 12,750 pounds of towing capability* and 2,300 pounds of maximum payload**, and the technological innovation continues inside to the new Uconnect 4C with its massive 12-inch touchscreen.
Reid Bigland, the Head of Ram Brand at FCA, says of the award: "The 2019 Ram 1500 incorporates a long list of new technologies to help drivers stay informed and in control during rough weather, including automatic emergency braking and real-time weather maps on the Uconnect 12-inch touchscreen. The 'Official Winter Truck of New England' award from NEMPA backs our title of America's most awarded pickup and represents solid recognition of our efforts in delivering the industry's benchmark for durability, technology, efficiency and luxury."
